The dress has short cape sleeves and a low cross over neckline. The dress crosses over at the front to a large intregally-cut half-bow drapery at the left hip.\r\n\r\nThis dress was designed by the House of Grès. Born Germaine Krebs in Paris, France (1903-1993). Madame Grès was famous for her classicism. She draped and moulded jersey, silk and wool, her favourite fabrics, into precise configurations to achieve an elegant simplicity. \r\n\r\nThis dress was probably designed at the very end of the 1950s and shows the fitted shape which was first introduced by Dior after the Second World War, combined with the new shorter lengths of the end of the decade.","physicalDescription":"Knee length wrapped-around afternoon dress made of black jersey, silk and wool.
