Conca' \r\nBlack and white chalk and brown wash on pale brown paper \r\n20k x 13 (511 x 330) \tDyce 354 \r\nPROVENANCE Dyce Bequest 1869\r\nLITERATURE Dyce Catalogue no. 354 (as by Sebastiano Conca); J. Bean and W. Vitzthum, 'Desegni del Lanfranco e del \r\nBenaschi', in Bollettino d'Arte, 46, 1961, p. 115; p. 121, no. 39; and fig. 32 \r\nAttributed to Benaschi by Bean and Vitzthum. The starting point for their analysis of Benaschi's style as a draughtsman is a drawing in the British Museum (inventory no. 4-52) and another in Munich (inventory no. 14047, verso), which are studies for a fresco by the artist in S. Carlo al Corso, Rome.
