Lely (Lugt 2092, on verso); P. Sylvester (lugt 2108); J. Richardson, Sr (Lugt 2184); Dyce Bequest 1869\r\n\nLITERATURE <i>Dyce catalogue</i>, no. 295 (as Barocci)\r\n\r\nThe Dyce catalogue wongly identifies the saint as St Anthony of Padua. He preached to fishes, not animals, and he was neither bishop nore abbot. The old attribution to Barocci is unconvincing.
