It was attributed by E. Arslan (I Bassano, Bologna, 1931, p. 240, fig. 47) to Luca Martinelli, a collaborator of Giambattista da Ponte; but in his revised book (I Bassano, Milan, 1960, p. 361) he catalogues the picture as merely Bassanesque, very close to Francesco and Gerolamo. Palluchini (in Arte Veneta,13-14, 1959-60, pp. 58-61) maintains that the painting is a late work of Jacopo Bassano. The Tietzes are doubtless right in regarding the drawing as a 17th century product of the Bassano Workshop. They mention other modified copies of the picture in paintings and drawings, including a drawing in the British Museum (loc. cit., no. 109)."}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[{"text":"Jesus Christ","id":"N1515"},{"text":"Mary (Mother of James and John)","id":"N7979"},{"text":"Mary Magdalen (Magdalene)","id":"N482"},{"text":"Joseph (Saint)","id":"N3590"},{"text":"Mary (of Cleophas)","id":"N7978"},{"text":"The Maries","id":"N12389"}],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"candle","id":"AAT37654"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["DYCE.232"],"accessionNumberNum":"232","accessionNumberPrefix":"DYCE","accessionYear":null,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-16","recordCreationDate":"2009-09-11","availableToBook":false}}
