Basic shape is retangular with a semi-circular lid, along thw two outer edges are rows of brass studs. On the front is a large iron lock, no longer with the key, and on each end the remains of leather carrying handles. Inside the lid is a frieze of green floral patterned paper abd the remains of teh stay ribbon for holding the lid when raised. Inside the box are two stripes of wood to support the tray.
