The arms end with a block of metal on two feet with rubber knobs, all pianted black. Beneath the wooden block is a metal block containing  a mechanism which is operated by a wooden knob below it, painted black. Onto this knob, which has a slit in it, is fitted a wooden disc bound in metal and painted black. It is probable that there should also be a handle or some other way of turning the knob. When turned the knob operates the mechanism which in turn causes the tube on the top to move, thus moving the dancing figures. There are three dancing dolls, of wood and metal, painted to represent Black figures. One is painted like a minstrel singer, red and yellow hat, yellow, red, black and white waistcoat and jacket, black and red leds and yellow shoes. The arms are of very thin wood and the doll is jointed at the shoulders, hips and knees. There is a  longe metal rod protruding from its base which fits into the tube on the wooden block. When operated, the doll appears to tap dance. The ither two dolls represent boxers, one dressed in red and white and the other in yellow and white. Both wear boxing gloves and lace up shoes. The arms and legs of very thin wood. Protruding from each back is a metal wire which curves down to meet between the figures and join into one to fit into the wooden block. When operated, the figures appear to be boxing.
