From 1648 Webb designed for the Earl of Pembroke a series of interiors at Wilton House, which had been damaged by fire. This drawing was once thought to be for Wilton but the use of eagles rather than wyverns, the heraldic beasts of the Herbert family, suggests otherwise. The design shows Webb's indebtedness to Jones, who was in turn much influenced by Palladio, a large group of whose drawings he had purchased in Italy, and contemporary French architects.\r\n\r\n3436.66","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null}}],"partNumbers":["3436:66"],"accessionNumberNum":"3436","accessionNumberPrefix":"","accessionYear":null,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2019LV5501"],"recordModificationDate":"2025-09-05","recordCreationDate":"2005-06-03","availableToBook":false}}
