On the underside is burnt in stamp 'Wild Wood of W.VA./c John J Hart/ Terra Alta W.Va.' Across the top of the rocker is a base, nailed on, on which stand the figures. At the centre left is the 'doctor' holding a 'baby' upside down in his right hand. The upper arms are nailed to the body and the left one swing; the baby is nailed to the right hand and it also swings. Across the front of the base lying in a semi-prone position is the 'Mother' with a left arm only, nailed to the body and able to swing. At the back right is the 'father' figure with his head turned to face the doctor. Each figure simply carved and has a peg nose. A little burn etching has been usied to show the Doctor's face mask, hairline fringe and cuff edge and buttons; the baby has three lines on its head, a circular ear, a line under its arms and an X for the naval. The mother has a V on eahc leg and an ear, while the father has a hair line fringe, shirt front and buttons. A sheet of cream paper is printed to give details of the manufacture of the toy and showing in the lower right corner the outline of the state of West Virginia on a rocker and marked with red heart.
