On the underside is burnt in stamp 'Wild Wood of W.VA/c John J Hart/Terra Alta W. Va'. On the left with one foot in the end and one on the block is the 'dentist' with both arms nailed at the hsoulders and able to swing. Each hand holds a metal hook. The hair is blond wool glued on. The 'patient' appears to be lying in a sloping chair which is mounted on a post and stucl into the centre block. Both arms are nailed on at the shoulders and swing, as do the lower legs which are hinged at the knees. The patient's mouth is cut into a round hole and his ears into small holes. Each figure is simply carved and has apeg nose. A little burn etching has been used to used to show the dentist's jacket bottom and two stripes around the upper arm and the dividing line between the patient and the chair. On the patients upper left arm is a red heart. A sheet of cream paper printed to give the details of manufacture of the toy and showing in the lower right corner.
