The mouth is open showing teeth and the ears are pierced. It is jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees.\n\n1. Bonnet, cream mercerized cotton lined with corded satin. The bonnet is made from a strip of fabric gathered along one edge and stiched to a panel. There is a piece of lace stitched around the edge of the bonnet with an extra ruffle of lace at centre-front, and a narrower lace at the lower-back edge. The bonnet ties with two strings of singe chain crochet. \n\n2. Dress, white muslin trimmed with white cotton lace around the neck and wrists, with a bow of cream mercerized cotton on each shoulder, at the front of the neckline and at either side of the back opening. The lower edge is hemmed at the back but left unfinished at the front, and concealed by a frill of self material, trimmed with a narrow strip of white lace. No fastening remains. \n\n3. Long dress, soft white cotton, embroidered in white. The fabric was perhaps reused from a larger garment. There is a single back seam. An extra piece of plain white cotton is sewn to the lower edge. The short gathered sleeves, which are set in straight just below the neckline, are also of plain white cotton, as is the belt, stitched to the centre front of the dress. The sleeves are very small in proportion to the dress. The dress fastens with a drawstring around the neck and the belth around the waist. \n\n4. Binder, double thickness white cotton, fastening wtih two tapes at one end to two tapes attached halfway along; the other end then wraps over and tucks in. \n\n5. Nightgown, white cotton trimmed with white broderie anglaise at wrists and around neck. The long sleeves are set in straight just below the neckline. A channel runs around the neckline to take the drawstring which fastens at the back of the neck. A single seam runs down the back of the gown which is hemmed at the lower edge. \n\n6. Long petticoat, white cotton trimmed with white tatting around the neckline, armholes and hem. It fastens with a white pearlized button and white handworked lopp at the neck and back. \n\n7. Long gown, soft white cotton, the bodice lined with heavier cotton. The skirt is gathered into the bodice and seamed at the back. There are three bands of tucking on the lower part of the skirt; a false hem invisibly darned into the bottom; and a band of broderie anglaise. The bodice is made from a single rectangle of cotton. The short sleeves are tucked and gathered and set in straight. A band of white brodier anglaise, as on the hem, is stitched across the front of the bodice. A double flounce seam runs right around the neckline. It fastens by means of two tapes, one at neck and one at waist. \n\n8. Waist petticoat, white cotton trimmed with white tatting around hem, and deep tuck just above the hem. It fastens with a drawstring around the waist. \n\n9. Vest, white cotton trimmed around the armholes with white tatting. The vest would be held in place by the binder. \n\n10. Barracoat, cream flannel shaped at the top to fit under arms, with one long dart down the front and two shorter darts on each side. It is bound along the top edge with cream tape and fastens with two tapes at the back and two at the bottom.
