Attached to the towers are spirals with four children on each, which revolve if placed over a heat source. Printed on thick paper in orange, dark shocking pink and black.\n\nPraxinoscope: a device patented by Reynaud in 1877 to overcome the distortion accompanying the Zoetrope. A band of pictures is placed on the inside of the large, shallow cylinder. The images are viewed in the mirrors (made of strips of shiny coated paper) which form the inner cylinder. When the cylinder is revolved, the images seen in the mirrors form a moving image. Three sets of ten pictures are included: a jack-in-the-box; a bird in flight; a station guard. Printed on thick paper in purple and black.\n\nZoetrope: a series of pictures are placed inside a hollow cylinder which can be rotated. The pictures are viewed through the slots in the side of the cylinder, and a successionof momentary images are seen, giving the impression of movement. The pictures are: windmill; juggler; swing; a man bouncing a ball.
