Busbridge of Plumstead, in around 1860. It was aimed at builders and sold for 'thruppence' (3 pennies) per sheet. This lithograph shows how the forms and proportions of classical mouldings were used in ordinary rooms in the 19th century. \r\n\r\nThis print shows an architrave. The word is derived from Greek (and means ‘chief beam’) and has two meanings in architectural orders. It can either mean the lowest of the three parts of an entablature, which rests on top of a column (the others being frieze, in the middle and cornice, at the top) or as in this case, the moulded frame around a door or a window.","physicalDescription":"Print of a two inch internal four panel door, lithograph, diagram for builders, showing forms and proportions of classical mouldings for use in ordinary rooms in the 19th century.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Busbridge, W.","id":"A14602"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"AAT25574"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"lithographic ink","id":"AAT187750"}],"techniques":[{"text":"lithography","id":"AAT53271"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Lithograph on paper","categories":[{"text":"Architectural fittings","id":"THES48994"},{"text":"Interiors","id":"THES48933"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BA0711"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLD","id":"THES49658"},"free":"","case":"R","shelf":"2","box":"A(ii)"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"England","id":"x28826"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1860","earliest":"1855-01-01","latest":"1864-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"44.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"29.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"This diagram for builders (available at 3d a sheet) shows how the forms and proportions of classical mouldings were used in ordinary rooms in the 19th century.
