The effect of a complex, multi-sectioned surface of diagonal, zigzag and circular patterns has achieved with the appropriately 'mechanical' aid of screen-printing rather than the traditional painting on ceramics.\r\n\r\nWedgwood collaborated with the artist in this venture to produce a limited edition of 200 sets of fine bone china plates with decoration designed by Paolozzi. The project extends the artist’s own interest in print techniques and the production of variations of the same theme, and the effects of different forms of printing on an image.\r\n\r\nThe plates are presented in a pink Perspex box, accompanied by a sheet of text with a photograph of the artist on the reverse, and each one has a pink felt slip cover.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Plate of bone china with vertical bands of screen-printed patterns, designed by Eduardo Paolozzi, made by Josiah Wedgwood and Sons Ltd., Barlaston, ca. 1972.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"geometric patterns","id":"AAT165213"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["CIRC.512B-1972"],"accessionNumberNum":"512","accessionNumberPrefix":"CIRC","accessionYear":1972,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-05-20","recordCreationDate":"2005-05-17","availableToBook":false}}
