The costume, designed by Georges Braque, was completed by a jockey cap, cape and ballet shoes with long ribbons to cross up the thigh. \n\r\nZephyre and Flore was danced to music composed by Vladimir Dukelsky [Vernon Duke] and the ballet was choreographed by Léonide Massine. Braque designed the scenery as well as the costumes. The curtain and scenery were created by Prince A. Schervachidze and Maison Weldy made the costumes. It was premiered at the Théâtre de Monte Carlo on 28 April 1925 and was first seen in London on 12 November 1925 at the Coliseum Theatre, by which time Dolin had left the Ballets Russes. Dolin created the role in Monte Carlo and the production was noted for the fact that the leading roles, taken by Dolin, Alice Nikitina and Serge Lifar, were all young rising dancers. \r\n\nZephyre et Flore was an unlucky ballet with performances cancelled by injuries, first to Lifar as Boreas, then to Nikitina as Flore. Dolin, working with Massine for the first time, found it difficult to adapt to his style of choreography. Although, according to The Times, the ballet was received with great enthusiasm at its London premiere, it seems to have made little lasting impact. \r\n\r\n\r\n","physicalDescription":"Costume for Zephyre designed by Georges Braque for Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. 1925.
