She is known for her stencil graffiti, often depicting fierce, beautiful women, with slogans or wordplays. She has been making street art since the early 1980s. Although she now sells her works as prints, and exhibits in commercial galleries, she continues to work in the urban environment at night. This particular image can also be seen sprayed onto dilapidated walls in Paris. \r\n\r\nThis print shows a female figure, challenging the viewer with her gaze. The words ‘A Ma Zone’ can be understood as ‘in my zone’ or ‘amazon’. Both phrases can be read in the context of this image: the amazon marks her space, or zone, with her presence. Miss Tic’s feminine characters, based on herself, and her sometimes confessional phrases, make her an interesting exception in the male-dominated street art genre. Miss Tic’s work, although often very personal, also touches on feminist and political themes.","physicalDescription":"A print showing a female figureas silhouette against a backdrop resembling a colourful wall with fragments of former posters now ripped off and some graffiti.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Miss Tic","id":"A14478"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Screenprint on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Feminism","id":"THES48955"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BJ8373"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLE","id":"THES49657"},"free":"","case":"SA","shelf":"3","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"France","id":"x28849"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2002","earliest":"2002-01-01","latest":"2002-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Purchased through the Julie and Robert Breckman Print Fund","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"57","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"38","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"A / MA / ZONE / Miss-Tic","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"In my zone","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Part of image, like graffiti on the wall"},{"content":"10/10 M.T","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"In pencil below image, edition details left and artist monogram on right"}],"objectHistory":"Displayed in the Link Corridor in Aug-Oct 2005 in the 'Street Art' display.","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"'A Ma Zone' screenprint by Miss Tic; French, 2004.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"graffiti","id":"AAT15613"}],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.274-2005"],"accessionNumberNum":"274","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2005,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"10/10","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":["2010EF2931"],"recordModificationDate":"2025-05-02","recordCreationDate":"2005-04-28","availableToBook":false}}
