Designer John Piper was excited to work with the experimental Group Theatre and he convinced Britten that the set need not be too literal.\n\r\nOpera by Benjamin Britten\r\n1946\r\nLibretto by Ronald Duncan, after Le Viol de Lucrèce by André Obey, 1931, based on the works of Livy, Shakespeare, Nathaniel Lee, Thomas Heywood and F.
