It was published, in France, in 1760s. This was meant to be placed directly onto the cloth, and needled through. The resulting line of dots on the cloth would then be connected together by drawing. The ornate flower pattern could be repeated across the fabric as required. \r\n\r\nOrnament prints like these were published for artisans to use in the production of objects, either in the same or different materials. This pattern has a specific use in garment production and decoration.","physicalDescription":"Etching on paper, embroidery pattern for a petticoat.","artistMakerPerson":[],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Daudet of Lyon","id":"A14389"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Etching on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"},{"text":"Underwear","id":"THES48880"},{"text":"Pattern books","id":"THES48915"},{"text":"Europeana Fashion Project","id":"THES265804"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BA0695","2016JH1466","2016JH8150"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"T","shelf":"4","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"France","id":"x28849"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1760s","earliest":"1760-01-01","latest":"1769-12-31"},"association":{"text":"published","id":"x30682"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"38.2","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"51.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Print: Embroidery pattern for a petticoat,French, 1760s.
