It appears that the original1912 production re-used Narcisse's costume for Daphnis, giving the need for a new costume for the revival. This is a 1920s 'art deco' interpretation of the original costume. The new production reused costumes from 1911, designed by Bakst, although Chloe now wore the 1913 revised costume originally created for Likenion. \n\nNarcisse, described as a mythological poem in one act, was the first ballet with a classical Greek subject and was hurriedly mounted when Maurice Ravel failed to complete the score for the proposed Daphnis et Chloe. It was based on the story of Echo and Narcissus from Ovid's Metamorphosis and focused on a beautiful Oread (mountain nymph), Echo, who fell in love with Narcissus, the strikingly handsome Boeotian hunter who was obsessed with his own image. \n","physicalDescription":"Man holding staff, wearing a white, one-shouldered, short tunic, fastening on the right shoulder.
