It originated in the Achaemenid world. Some bracelets were worn at the wrist, others like this one near the elbow, and the grandest were worn on the upper arm.\r\n\r\nThe glass rod is coloured with a cobalt blue pigment. \r\nAnimal-heads were a common feature in Greek jewellery, used on earrings, clasps and bracelets.
