He was born in Rome and became a pupil of Pietro Berrettini (Pietro da Cortona), one of the leading figures in Roman High Baroque art. So close was he stylistically to his master that at the latter's death in 1669 Ferri was invited to Florence to complete Pietro's unfinished frescos in the Pitti Palace, which he was able ot do so convincingly that contemporaries were unable to detect his contribution. He was also a designer whose work on such varied projects as papal arms, a state-carriage and cupolas in St Peter's Basilica were published as engravings. He died in Rome in 1689.","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null}}],"partNumbers":["8456"],"accessionNumberNum":"8456","accessionNumberPrefix":"","accessionYear":null,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-16","recordCreationDate":"2009-07-01","availableToBook":false}}
