Porcelain stem cups were made in imperial kilns for court use in the 15th century. A jade version is much rarer, as a fairly large block of nephrite would have been necessary to make this cup.","physicalDescription":"Mottled greenish-grey with dark striation and lighter flecks, rounded slightly tapering sides rising steeply and then flaring towards the rim.  The tall, hollow cylindrical stem spreads gently to he foot, and its sides are thick, drilling marks are visible inside.  There is an incised ring below the outside of the rim, and anotherat the foot.
