They were probably used as paperweights.","physicalDescription":"Figurine of jade, pale greenish-white with slight brown patches and a 'fault-line' of dark brown through the head and paw of one animal. The head is thrust forward on the paws.  With marked vertebrae, bony ribs and coiled tail; the legs finished flat on the underside.  The two puppies are coiled round so that the muzzle of one rests on the rump of the other.  The rib cages and lines of the spines are visible.  One tail curls upwards, the other under the body. This group was probably intended as a paperweight or ornament, though the piercing between the bodies does raise the possibility of suspension as a fan weight, large toggle or curtain weight.
