Shell cameos, which were cheaper and more easily worked, became fashionable in the 19th century. Many were bought by tourists as souvenirs.","physicalDescription":"The head of a woman wearing a diadem looking to the left; the head of a man, bearded, moustached, and wearing a chaplet of laurel leaves, looks to the right.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"onyx","id":"AAT11136"}],"techniques":[],"materialsAndTechniques":"Onyx, in gold ring","categories":[{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"},{"text":"Jewellery","id":"THES48930"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AE9309"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"111 (VA)","id":"THES49918"},"free":"","case":"CA002","shelf":"003","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Cameo","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Italy","id":"x28927"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1820","earliest":"1815-01-01","latest":"1824-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Bequeathed by Miss M.
