The tradition continued for hundreds of years and the jade animals became more decorative than functional.","physicalDescription":"Figure of a seated ram, carved grey-green jade with brown markings, facing to the front knee raised and the left leg tucked under him.  The spirally-carved horns form an arc from the head to the shoulders;  a longish beard hangs from the lower jaw.  The eyes are almond-shaped; the jaw is carved so as to provide a continuous raised line round the lips.  The tail is not incised with hair lines.
