Most of these art works take the form of billboards or posters. It began with the redundant District Line platform at Gloucester Road station, which has hosted a series of billboards. \r\n\r\nMark Titchner's work takes the form of billboard-sized prints with ambiguous demands announced in elaborate lettering on an ornamented ground. They draw on the imagery of baroque religious art as well as psychedelic posters, and also contain visual references to trade union banners, book illustrations and the designs of William Morris. The texts work like commandments crossed with advertising slogans, and relate to the artist's interests in systems of belief, ideologies, and corporate identities.\r\n\r\nThis is a circuit poster, used at locations across the tube network to advertise the Platform for Art projects to travellers.","physicalDescription":"Poster","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Titchner, Mark","id":"A14186"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Platform for Art","id":"A14187"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"printing","id":"AAT53319"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Offset lithograph","categories":[{"text":"Advertising","id":"THES49001"},{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006AY5847"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLF","id":"THES49656"},"free":"","case":"Topic","shelf":"9","box":"A"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"printed and published","id":"x35383"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2004","earliest":"2004-01-01","latest":"2004-12-31"},"association":{"text":"printed and published","id":"x35383"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Given by Platform for Art.
