As well as producing drawings himself, Cousens trained and supervised Indian draftsmen who were preparing drawings of sites and monuments in western India for the Survey. The V&A has seven examples of his work recording details from recently-discovered caves at Bhaja in the Poona District of Bombay region as well as caves at Ajanta and Kondivate; most are reproduced in J. Fergusson and J.
