From July to December 1866, he toured part of the Himalayan region. He wrote about his journey in The British Journal of Photography, outlining his route and in some cases describing the scenes he photographed. Here, we can see the village of Kibber, in the Spiti Valley.\r\n\r\nBourne wrote: 'My companion [Dr G.R. Playfair] had been looking forward to this place [Kibber] with great interest since the commencement of the journey, as, from the records of the Royal Geographical Survey, it appeared that the fine specimens of fossils were to be found here between 13,000 and 15,000 feet elevation.
