From July to December 1866 he toured a part of the Himalayan region. He wrote about his journey in The British Journal of Photography, outlining his route and in some cases describing the scenes of which he took photographs.\r\n\r\nOn his travels Bourne stopped at a little village called Kat. He mentions taking a photograph of a large chestnut tree near the village. This photograph does not appear to show that particular tree one but it would have been taken around the same time. It reflects Bourne’s interest in the flora, fauna and geology of the Indian landscape.","physicalDescription":"The photograph shows a forest of large, majestic, mainly pine, trees.
