This red silk dress has been painstakingly constructed using the traditional Japanese shibori technique, an elaborate form of tie-dying which involves folding, wrapping, clamping or stitching fabric, then adding or removing colour to create swirling, sweeping and geometric patterns. Working primarily in velvet and silk, for their iridescence and rich colour potential, Dion's luxurious, laborious designs have been described as 'wearable art'. Dion's collections have been sold at Bergdorf Goodman stores, and her home accessories sold at Fifty One Antiques, Toronto. She is a featured artist in 'Memory on Cloth', the recent shibori publication, edited by Yoshiko Wada.","physicalDescription":"Permanently textured red gumma silk dress.
