The woman whose hair is being dressed is sitting with a child at her breast. A mould has been used for the faces and the rest has been hand-modelled. White mica has been applied to the figures as a ground, over which a black pigment has been used to outline and accentuate the figures' details. Such figures are often sold in a <i>mela</i> (fair) as a toy.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"Clay","id":"AAT10439"},{"text":"paint","id":"AAT15029"}],"techniques":[{"text":"fired","id":"AAT53887"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Painted terracotta","categories":[{"text":"Ceramics","id":"THES48982"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SSEA","id":"THES48598"},"images":["2006AF3972"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"137 (VA)","id":"THES49876"},"free":"","case":"16","shelf":"1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Figure","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Murshidabad (district)","id":"x38634"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca.1943","earliest":"1938-01-01","latest":"1947-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"11.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Length","value":"15.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Received as a gift from J.C.
