Each poster in the series illustrated a point from the PCE's document 'Conditions For Winning the War'. The imagery of a worker's arm, smashing a hammer against an anvil illustrates the fourth point, 'That it nationalises and reorganises our basic industries beginning with the industries of war'.\n\nAs the fighting continued, there was disagreement amongst the Republican side (broadly made up of socialists, communists, anarchists and republicans) over how the war could be used as an opportunity to reorganise Spanish society. Some argued that the war needed to be won before change could begin. However many communist groups pushed for reforms, such as the reorganisation of labour. Which, as this poster illustrates, they argued could help improve armament production and therefore increase their chances of winning the war.\n\n","physicalDescription":"Colour lithograph poster for the Spanish Communist Party (PCE) during the Spanish Civil War","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Bardasano, José","id":"A13595"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"AAT14109"}],"techniques":[{"text":"lithography","id":"AAT53271"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Lithograph on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Politics","id":"THES48908"},{"text":"Images Online","id":"THES48937"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BB3112"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB2E","shelf":"DR78","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Madrid (city)","id":"x32463"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1937","earliest":"1937-01-01","latest":"1937-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Purchased through the Julie and Robert Breckman Print Fund","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Union Poligrafica - Consejo Obrero","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":""},{"content":"PARTIDO COMUNISTA DE ESPAÑA (S.E.
