At the time this piece was made <i>pangkheb</i> were also among the fabrics that served as taxes in kind in Bhutan, distributed by the state to monasteries and administrative centres (<i>dzongs</i>) for lining cushions, wrapping ritual objects or using as bed covers and towels.","physicalDescription":"Multi-purpose lap cloth <i>(pangkheb)</i> of coarse unbleached cotton cloth with woven and embroidered patterns in terra cotta and indigo blue cotton. The left side is a sari like robe. The simple geometrical pattern is formed by horizontal bands of diamonds, whole, doubled or halved between triple lines of darn stitch.
