He was best known for his mosaics in public buildings, particularly the National Gallery in London, and also undertook private commissions. \r\n\r\nHaving been responsible for the mosaic on the vault of the inner crypt of Westminster Cathedral in 1914, Anrep was commissioned in 1956 to design the mosaics for the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. His design incoprorated three main themes illustrated by scenes from the Old Testament (in the chapel nave) and from the New (in the apse). Together with his assistant, Justin Vuillliamy, he used the indirect method to design and produce the mosaics, creating full-size cartoons of the designs in his Paris studio which he sent to Venice where tesserae from Angelo Orsoni's workshop were attached and sent to London. The installation took place in 1960-62.
