Contemporary gazettes begin to refer to ‘labels for bottles’ in the 1770s but it was not until the 1790s that they were established as wine or decanter labels. \r\n\r\nThese tickets also illustrate, in miniature, the skills of the silversmith over the last two hundred years. While the variety of styles and materials was enormous, silver bottle tickets tended to reflect fashionable designs and technical advances in metalware generally.","physicalDescription":"Bottle Ticket \"HOLLANDS\" Silver, curved band with scrolled ends and bright cut border from which rises the Prince of Wales's feathers: chain attached.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Grey, G.","id":"A12680"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Peter and Ann Bateman","id":"A13850"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"AAT251917"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"silver","id":"AAT11029"}],"techniques":[{"text":"bright cutting","id":"AAT233393"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Bright cut silver","categories":[{"text":"Drinking","id":"THES48965"},{"text":"Metalwork","id":"THES48920"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"MET","id":"THES48599"},"images":[],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"65 (VA)","id":"THES49734"},"free":"","case":"16","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"016","id":"THES412493"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Bottle ticket","id":""}],[{"text":"Chain","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"London","id":"x28980"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1793-1794","earliest":"1793-05-29","latest":"1794-05-28"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"AM/MET/0001","id":"ARC257664"},"association":""}],"creditLine":"P.
