This new relationship lasted long enough for Campbell to design the facade of Burlington House, a recasing of an earlier building; the work was carried out from 1719. The first neo-Palladian town house of the eighteenth century, its design was a characteristic Campbellian mixture of borrowings, including a palazzo by Palladio as well as several buildings by Inigo Jones and John Webb, including the Queen's House, the Banqueting House and the Somerset House Gallery.
