MACE\r\n<i>Parcel-gilt\nLondon, 1694-5\nMark of Benjamin Pyne</i>\nThe inscription gives the names of eight foremen who, over a period of 83 years gave four bowls, a cup and a salt, a wine cup, a salt and a mace to the Court Leet. All were melted and made into this mace engraved FOR THE USE OF YE INQUEST OF ST.ANDREWS, HOLBORNE. The weight of each object is also engraved. In 1695 the mace weighed 86 ounces.\nThis mace was set out at the hearings of the Court Leet of St Andrew, Holborn. The Court plate also includes two cups in Case 17 (7 and 14).
