She has painted features with stylised rosy painted circles on her cheeks, and black painted hair styled in the ceramic, moulded to resemble a bun on top of her head. She has a carved wooden body with a generously proportioned bust tapering to an hourglass-shaped waist. The upper arms are of padded canvas, and below the sewn elbow joint the canvas is sewn over the ceramic forearms. The carved wooden legs are jointed at the knees, but end without feet which were probably originally ceramic. Both the thumbs and the tip of the middle finger of the right hand are broken. The metal rod, fixed inside the torso, goes through the centre of the head and ends in a loop for hanging","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"maker","id":"x40240"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"wood","id":"AAT11914"},{"text":"ceramic","id":"AAT235507"},{"text":"canvas","id":"AAT14078"},{"text":"padding (material)","id":"AAT227860"},{"text":"metal","id":"AAT10900"}],"techniques":[{"text":"carving","id":"AAT53149"},{"text":"sewing","id":"AAT53658"},{"text":"firing (heating)","id":"AAT53887"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Carved wood, ceramic, canvas, padding material and metal","categories":[{"text":"Entertainment & Leisure","id":"THES48959"},{"text":"Puppetry","id":"THES266219"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"T&P","id":"THES48602"},"images":["2019LV3929"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"008","id":"THES355637"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Puppet","id":""}],[{"text":"Rod puppet","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Italy","id":"x28927"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"19th century","earliest":"1800-01-01","latest":"1900-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"S.433-2001","id":"O103129"},"association":"Object"}],"creditLine":"Given by the British Puppet and Model Theatre Guild","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"35","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Rod puppet, undressed, of a lady with ceramic head, forearms and hands.
