His father was probably a sculptor and he may have been related to the two painters of the same name working in the circle of Mantegna in Padua: Pietro Calzetta and Francesco Calzetta. Severo might have divided his time between Padua, Ferrara and Ravenna, where he was first recorded in 1496.","physicalDescription":"Bronze double lamp with tripod stand (addition) a standing putto finial (not original)","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Severo da Ravenna","id":"A11267"},"association":{"text":"sculptor","id":"AAT25181"},"note":"workshop of"}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"bronze","id":"AAT10957"}],"techniques":[{"text":"casting","id":"AAT53104"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Cast bronze","categories":[{"text":"Lighting","id":"THES48925"},{"text":"Sculpture","id":"THES48896"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"SCP","id":"THES48600"},"images":["2006AE5177"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES396033"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES396033"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES396033"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES396033"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""},{"current":{"text":"001","id":"THES396033"},"free":"","case":"","shelf":"","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"Double lamp","id":""}],[{"text":"Base","id":""}],[{"text":"Double lamp","id":""}],[{"text":"Double lamp","id":""}],[{"text":"Base","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""},{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Padua (city)","id":"x29504"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"possibly"},{"place":{"text":"Ravenna (city)","id":"x32642"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":"possibly"}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1500-1550","earliest":"1495-01-01","latest":"1550-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"11","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"6.5","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Depth","value":"6","unit":"in","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"Historical significance: Several other similar versions exist, including one in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Bronze double lamp and base with a standing putto finial (not original), workshop of Severo da Ravenna, Italy, about 1500-50","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Inventory of Art Objects Acquired in the Year 1857. <u>In</u>: <u>Inventory of the Objects in the Art Division of the Museum at South Kensington, Arranged According to the Dates of their Acquisition.
