From the 17th century they also expanded their trade to include other hardstones, such as agate and chalcedony. An example is this small vase in the form of a tree stump with flowering branch, which makes skilful use of veined chalcedony. \r\n\r\nBritish collectors in the early 20th century were particularly attracted to this kind of decorative object.
