McKnight Kauffer: The Artist in Advertising, </i>edited by Caitlin Condell and Emily M. Orr, Rizzoli Electa, 2020, p.39:\r\n\r\n'It was in his first design for Vigil Silk that Kauffer finally achieved the abstraction in poster design that [Wyndham] Lewis has called for five years earlier. Vigil Silk was a Yorkshire-based textile firm whose owner, Alec G. Walker, was interested in vorticism, and enthusiasm that probably encouraged Kauffer to try something unprecedented in his practice.
