This is deliberately misleading.  The dancer is actually Adleina Plunkett and the image has been pirated by the publishers and Taglioni's name put onto it, as her name had more sales value than the lesser-known Plunkett.  \r\nIn the second half of the 19th century, no self-respecting house was without a piano and a flourishing publishing industry fed the demand for new music.  The covers were often decorated with lithographed images, which reflect many aspects of Victorian life and culture. Images of performers were also popular and so became well-known to people who might never see them live on stage.","physicalDescription":"Between the titling and credits, a female dancer stands on point on her right leg, her upper body half turned to the right, her head tilted to her left and facing the viewer; in her upraised hands she carries a garland of red and blue flowers and green foliage.  Her proper left leg is raised in arabesque.  Her knee-length ballet dress has a low-necked fitted upper bodice, with short sleeves in palest blue outlined in gold, with a broad pointed lower bodice.  On her centrally parted and sleeked down hair is a band of gold stars.
