Anderson & Kathryn G. Herr:\r\n\r\nMother Jones, or Mary Jones, was one of most famous American labor leaders/speakers of all time. Her fiery rhetoric, sometimes peppered with profanity, inspired American miners and their wives to unionize and strike in the face of great obstacles and hardships. She traveled tirelessly on behalf of the United Mine Workers (UMW). In 1992 the U.S. Labor Department inducted her into their Labor Hall of Fame along with Samuel Gompers and John L. Lewis. The state of Pennsylvania erected a statue of her in Philadelphia's Penn Square. She was also named one of America's most “heroic” persons of all times."}],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.1475-2004"],"accessionNumberNum":"1475","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2004,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2026-08-13","recordCreationDate":"2009-06-30","availableToBook":false}}
