But the interest and admiration is mutual, for as the Londoner studies the chimpanzee, he in turn watches the Londoner with a dark and brooding concentration...There are other animals to delight the Londoner; the wild deer of Richmond Park, the squirrel at home in Epping Forest, the fox, pausing in the ride of a Sussex wood to glance at the stranger. In fact, most of England's animals, like the rest of the population, have relatives in the London area.
