M. Barrie's play 'Peter Pan'. The play was originally produced at the Duke of York's Theatre, London, 27th December 1904, and was revived annually until 1914. The scenery was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens (although he is not credited in the programme), and the director was Dion Boucicault. The costumes were designed by Wilhelm and William Nicholson and were made by B J Simmons.\r\nPauline Chase first played Peter in 1906 and annually thereafter until 1913.\r\n\r\nAccording to Mary Lutyens, Sir Edwin's youngest daughter, who saw the first production of the play when she was a child, Sir Edwin designed all the scenery except the interior of the Wendy House, which was designed by his friend and next door neighbour, William Nicholson. Sir Edwin's name does not appear on the original programme. The nursery scene was based on the Lutyens' children's own nursery.","physicalDescription":"Theatre prop for Peter Pan used by Pauline Chase.
