The vision began to be realised in 1936 when German troops reoccupied the Rhineland.  Austria was absorbed by the Anschluss of 1938. Using a cult of personality Hitler presented himself as the unifying focus for this Reich, exploiting his image to inspire a personal loyalty. It was a technique used by other 20th-century totalitarian leaders, Mao Zedong in China being a notable example.","physicalDescription":"Photolithograph profile portrait of Adolf Hitler printed with a red background.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Unknown","id":"A1848"},"association":{"text":"","id":""},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"photolithography","id":"AAT53275"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Photolithograph printed in black and red","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Propaganda","id":"THES48902"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BB5421"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"3G","shelf":"DR29","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"ca. 1937","earliest":"1932-01-01","latest":"1941-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of the American Friends of the V&A; Gift to the American Friends by Leslie, Judith and Gabri Schreyer and Alice Schreyer Batko","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"59.1","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"42.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Ein Volk - ein Reich - ein Führer","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"from the German: One People - one Reich - one Führer","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"printed in black on white across lower margin"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer [One People, one Empire, one Führer] Anonymous Third Reich poster, Germany ca. 1937","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"}],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[{"text":"Hitler, Adolf","id":"N1953"}],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[{"text":"portrait","id":"AAT15637"},{"text":"profile","id":"AAT123319"}],"contentConcepts":[{"text":"politics","id":"AAT55537"},{"text":"propaganda","id":"AAT55539"},{"text":"Nazism","id":"AAT55524"}],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["E.1770-2004"],"accessionNumberNum":"1770","accessionNumberPrefix":"E","accessionYear":2004,"otherNumbers":[{"type":{"text":"Leslie Schreyer Loan Number","id":"THES50220"},"number":"LS.1614"}],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-04-08","recordCreationDate":"2004-07-26","availableToBook":false}}
