She  produced as many as 80 commissioned designs a year, such as this one, for master  weavers and mercers. She lived and worked in Spitalfields, London from about 1730  until her death in 1763. Her interest in natural form--and her talent for depicting it-- characterized her designs throughout her professional life.","physicalDescription":"","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Anna Maria Garthwaite","id":"A8416"},"association":{"text":"Artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"watercolour","id":"x33202"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"watercolour","id":"AAT15045"}],"techniques":[{"text":"drawing","id":"AAT54196"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Watercolour on paper","categories":[{"text":"Designs","id":"THES48968"},{"text":"Fashion","id":"THES48957"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BB3450"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"MB2D","shelf":"DR110","box":"T185"}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"drawings","id":"AAT33973"}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Spitalfields","id":"x29420"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1742","earliest":"1742-01-01","latest":"1742-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"","dimensions":[],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Design for a woven silk made by Anna Maria Garthwaite, Spitalfields, 1742.","bibliographicReferences":[],"production":"","productionType":{"text":"","id":""},"contentDescription":"","contentPlaces":[],"associatedPlaces":[],"contentPerson":[],"associatedPerson":[],"contentOrganisations":[],"associatedOrganisations":[],"contentPeople":[],"associatedPeople":[],"contentEvents":[],"associatedEvents":[],"contentOthers":[],"contentConcepts":[],"contentLiteraryRefs":[],"galleryLabels":[],"partNumbers":["5980:15"],"accessionNumberNum":"5980","accessionNumberPrefix":"","accessionYear":null,"otherNumbers":[],"copyNumber":"","aspects":["WHOLE"],"assets":[],"recordModificationDate":"2025-06-05","recordCreationDate":"2009-06-30","availableToBook":false}}
