His Russian Album is an ironic take on the popular Russian taste for copies of nineteenth-century history paintings in the style of the 'Wanderers' school of social realists. For his purpose Florensky has adopted the idiom of the Lubok or folk print which depicted narrative, moral or satirical subjects and flourished in Russia into the early twentieth century. The accompanying CD shows animated versions of the prints.","physicalDescription":"Screenprint.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Florensky, Alexander","id":"A13156"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Guelman","id":"A13171"},"association":{"text":"publisher","id":"x32600"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"printing ink","id":"AAT187371"}],"techniques":[{"text":"Screen printing","id":"AAT53281"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Screenprint on paper","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":[],"imageResolution":"none","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLE","id":"THES49657"},"free":"","case":"MP","shelf":"76","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"print","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Moscow","id":"x32457"},"association":{"text":"Printed and published","id":"x35383"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"2001","earliest":"2001-01-01","latest":"2001-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[{"object":{"text":"E.2081:1-2004","id":"O101611"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:4-2004","id":"O101628"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:5-2004","id":"O101629"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:6-2004","id":"O101630"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:7-2004","id":"O101631"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:8-2004","id":"O101632"},"association":"Part"},{"object":{"text":"E.2081:2-2004","id":"O101625"},"association":"Part"}],"creditLine":"Purchased through the Julie and Robert Breckman Print Fund","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"78.8","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"53.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"5/40","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"bottom left in pencil"},{"content":"Florensky","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"(in cyrillics), bottom right in pencil"},{"content":"J&M GUELMAN HAND PRINT STUDIO","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"Stamped on the back, bottom right, in red ink"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Encore, Once More Encore (The Provincial Life of an Officer) from The Russian Album.
