Robinson indulged \r\nhis passion for Renaissance art and collecting. In the \r\n1850s, he undertook yearly ‘shopping’ expeditions \r\nto Europe. Robinson bought these initials in Bonn, \r\nGermany in 1858. The cut-out border ornaments, \r\nhowever, were purchased from London booksellers \r\nThomas and William Boone in 1866.
