Though no longer in existence, the Prussian state was formerly the most important industrial and political part of the German Empire and formed part of the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1933. Following the end of World War I and the abdication of William II in 1918, a left-wing revolution took hold of Germany.\r\nThe DVNP were staunch nationalists who appealed to traditional imperial interests and, although they contested elections, they never supported the idea of a parliamentary democracy. The poster claims that this political party and its ideological stance could deliver the state from the revolution and therefore, from its own destruction.","physicalDescription":"Landscape format poster depicting a red skeleton driving a chariot pulled by two rearing black horses.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Hees, Gustav Adolf van","id":"A13124"},"association":{"text":"artist","id":"AAT25103"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"},{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"}],"techniques":[{"text":"colour lithography","id":"AAT190525"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour lithograph","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Propaganda","id":"THES48902"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BB5474"],"imageResolution":"low","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"3G","shelf":"DR1","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"Germany","id":"x28873"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1919","earliest":"1919-01-01","latest":"1919-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of the American Friends of the V&A; Gift to the American Friends by Leslie, Judith and Gabri Schreyer and Alice Schreyer Batko","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"65.7","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"79.9","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Wer rettet Preußen vor dem Untergange?","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"Who Saves Prussia from its Doom?","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"printed in black"},{"content":"Die Deutschnationale Volkspartei!","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"The German National People's Party!","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"printed in black and underlined"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Wer rettet Preußen vor dem Untergange?
