This poster makes use of the popular stereotype of the glamorous spy. It strikes a palatable, light-hearted tone while the rhyming text is catchy and colloquial. As an enemy, the spy contrasts with the prevailing images of women in wartime Britain, which tended to encourage wholesome effort and economy. Her frivolity of dress, posture and gaze all imply her moral laxity.","physicalDescription":"Glamorous woman, seated with three servicemen.","artistMakerPerson":[{"name":{"text":"Forster, Harold","id":"A14891"},"association":{"text":"designer","id":"AAT25190"},"note":""}],"artistMakerOrganisations":[{"name":{"text":"Ministry of Information","id":"A7822"},"association":{"text":"printers","id":"AAT25732"},"note":""},{"name":{"text":"Ministry of Information","id":"A7822"},"association":{"text":"publishers","id":"AAT25574"},"note":""}],"artistMakerPeople":[],"materials":[{"text":"ink","id":"AAT15012"},{"text":"paper","id":"x30308"}],"techniques":[{"text":"colour lithography","id":"AAT190525"}],"materialsAndTechniques":"Colour lithograph","categories":[{"text":"Prints","id":"THES48903"},{"text":"Propaganda","id":"THES48902"},{"text":"Posters","id":"THES252963"}],"styles":[],"collectionCode":{"text":"PDP","id":"THES48595"},"images":["2006BB5461"],"imageResolution":"high","galleryLocations":[{"current":{"text":"LVLC (VA)","id":"THES49171"},"free":"","case":"3G","shelf":"DR8","box":""}],"partTypes":[[{"text":"poster","id":""}]],"contentWarnings":[{"apprise":"","note":""}],"placesOfOrigin":[{"place":{"text":"United Kingdom","id":"x29336"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"productionDates":[{"date":{"text":"1941-1942","earliest":"1941-01-01","latest":"1942-12-31"},"association":{"text":"made","id":"x28654"},"note":""}],"associatedObjects":[],"creditLine":"Gift of the American Friends of the V&A; Gift to the American Friends by Leslie, Judith and Gabri Schreyer and Alice Schreyer Batko","dimensions":[{"dimension":"Height","value":"76.3","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""},{"dimension":"Width","value":"51.5","unit":"cm","qualifier":"","date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"part":"","note":""}],"dimensionsNote":"","marksAndInscriptions":[{"content":"Keep mum, she's not so dumb!","inscriber":{"name":{"text":"","id":""},"association":{"text":"","id":""}},"date":{"text":"","earliest":null,"latest":null},"description":"","interpretation":"","language":"","medium":"","method":"","position":"","script":"","translation":"","transliteration":"","type":"","note":"printed in black"}],"objectHistory":"","historicalContext":"","briefDescription":"Poster depicting a glamorous female spy, produced by the Ministry of Information, UK, ca. 1941","bibliographicReferences":[{"reference":{"text":"","id":""},"details":"","free":"Images of War: British Posters 1939-45.
